The Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System (RICAS) is the state’s standardized testing program for students in grades 3 through 8, assessing proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. Aligned with the Rhode Island State Standards, RICAS evaluates students’ mastery of grade-level content and provides valuable data to inform instruction and support student learning. The assessments are administered annually in the spring, with ELA testing typically occurring from late March to mid-April and Mathematics testing from late April to early May.
