In the early years of the 5th century, a monk named Mesrop Mashtots embarked on a journey that would change his country, Armenia, forever. Mashtots was determined to create a unique alphabet for his people, allowing them to read the Bible in their own language. He spent years travelling, learning from other cultures, and studying different languages. One night, in a dream, he saw the shapes and forms that would become the Armenian alphabet. He spent the next several years refining these characters. The result was a 36-letter alphabet, which is still in use today. This creation led to a cultural renaissance in Armenia. Literature and education flourished, and the Armenian people developed a strong sense of identity. In honour of his contribution, Mesrop Mashtots is revered as a national hero in Armenia till this day.
